The prompt this month left me feeling at a loss. I've never done specifically character design, and many artists will agree that doing something with no background or spacial interaction is intimidating. There is something like a safety net when you can rely on extra "fluff" to carry your story, and making stand alone characters requires more process than I've devoted before.
Below I've show my first attempt at modern characters. Snooze! I fully intended to go to final until I did a little soul searching. I was taking the easy way out. The teachers said to do a lot of different designs and to really explore. So I decided to work on it; really work and stretch my comfort zone. That is what I'm truly aiming for after all, building more knowledge and practice.
So after a lot more effort I landed on the second set. As you can see by the light study they are much more visually interesting and dynamic. With more time I'm hoping I'll have better work ethic and design know-how in the future.
Sorry this was long!
